How am I just now finding out about this?
How is this police officer on leave and not in a jail cell?
How is are people coming to his defense talking about a tazer? They look, feel, and are used completely differently.
How do police get away with confiscating video cameras after one of their commits a brutal murder?

Why do police get to investigate themselves.
Why are we still having to have this discussion.
Why is this young man dead, when moments prior he was begging his friends to cooperate with the police?

Oscar Bell, Sean Bell, Duanna Johnson.
All murdered. All people of color. All victims of police violence.

I think the Hows and Why's are perfectly fucking clear.

The answer to all those questions is simple: He's a cop.

Remember, the police are just like you and me, only better.

The sad thing is that I'm not horribly surprised that this happened, and I'm not surprised at all by the way they're handling it. Of course, that might be because the guy that does The War On Guns posts stories of police being either grossly incompetent or corrupt. (He does so to counter the "the police and military are the only ones that have the training and discipline to carry firearms" argument)

Police incompetence and malice do definitely factor in, but I highly doubt the situation would have gone the same way if you or I had been the one getting handcuffed, even if we had been acting the exact same.
