Before I could even bring myself to talk about Leeneshia Edwards and how she is in critical condition after being shot in the face, how heartbroken and helpless this makes me feel... There is news of another transwoman found dead, and yet again she has been misrepresented by the police and the media. Taysia Elzy was found dead in her house with her boyfriend and one of her dogs. The police used a mugshot where she was in guy mode, and her male name. The news reports all say "he".

So many of these stories never even see the light of day, and I thank Monica over at TransGriot for her heartbreaking work making sure everyone knows of them.

transgender ) ETA: Apparently an arrest has been made today in this case. There is some progress with the police force as well. Unfortunatly the media does not seem to be changing the presentation of their stories. Like always, I don't think it would hurt if people called and left polite messages.
