On the VP Choice:
Aug. 27th, 2008 11:39 amNot saying this is right or wrong, or that it was even a factor, but an interesting question popped into my head earlier:
Might Clinton have been looked over as a VP candidate because the Obama camp felt she would be a less effective aggressor? Mind you, not that she would be less able to attack the republicans, rather that she would either be seen as a "bitch on wheels/mean spirited/whatever sexist idea you want to phrase it" or would have to scale back what she would want to do in order to avoid that stereotype.
As much as I dislike it, the truth is that women who are assertive tend to be viewed more negatively than a man, who is (generally) seen as being strong and standing up for himself. (Personal experience here, I've been on both sides of the coin.)
--edit--
Also, I wish they had really pushed this speech... it is incredible. Kucininich is still my first choice for a president.
